Last year, there was a lot of talk online about computers taking over lawyers' and judges' jobs. I wasn't too surprised - robots are replacing many jobs these days, and eventually, this might become real. I even joked about switching careers to computer science and spilling all my "lawyer secrets." But jokes aside, the internet is already changing how people deal with legal matters. Instead of visiting a lawyer's office, many folks just Google their legal questions. That's how technology is shaking things up in many fields. Finding Legal Forms Online One thing people often look for online is legal forms. You can now download all kinds of contracts and legal documents from the internet. But wait - don't just grab any rental agreement template and call it a day! While these forms are easy to find, it's crucial to understand what goes into them to avoid future headaches. Important Parts of Your Rental Agreement Who's Who and What's What First, you need to write down who's involved. … [Read more...]

Would you have invested with the skinny little geek?
Would you have invested with the skinny little geek? Sometime last week, my Dad asked me to attend a multi-level marketing seminar involving Voice Over Internet Protocol (V.O.I.P) products. He wanted to attend the seminar personally but he asked me to attend the seminar primarily for two reasons first he had another meeting to attend and secondly, he just did not understand what the product is all about. (This also goes for all other “hi-tech” products) So I reluctantly attended the seminar. An American gave the presentation. He was very eloquent and convincing. The product was equally good as well. But what really intrigued me was the sales pitch he made when asked he people to join the multi-level marketing company. He told us that Microsoft is one of the richest and one of the most successful company in the world. The company is currently worth more than $ 200 Billion dollars. If these guys would come knocking at your door, you wouldn’t hesitate to give them your … [Read more...]
The Top 10 Richest Filipino of 2007
About the early part of the last quarter of this year, FORBES ASIA released their list of the Top 40 Richest people in the Philippines. We are given a glimpse as to who holds about 80 to 90 % of our nation’s wealth. However in comparison to the entire region, the Filipino richest are actually the “poorest” among its Southeast Asian neighbors. Compared to others in the same region, the Riches Filipino combined together had the smallest net worth, ($16 billion) the fewest number of billionaires (only three) and the lowest minimum net worth ($25 million) Nevertheless these Filipinos are the envy of their countrymen. Others look up to them as their inspiration. It is interesting to note that only a handful of them have inherited their wealth. Most of them started from the bottom and worked their way up until they became what they are today. Take note all of them are entrepreneurs and none made it to the top 10 list by just remaining an employee. Inspire to be an entrepreneur, take … [Read more...]
Blue Ocean Strategy . . . The future trend of Business strategy ?
I was in Star Bucks Club Ultima this afternoon to talk with an acquaintance regarding a new business that he is planning to start. One of the things that he mentioned was this unique business strategy that’s quite different from what we traditionally learn in business school. According to him, this strategy sorts of deviates from normal business concepts that we hear and read from the usual management gurus. This strategy is called “Blue Ocean Strategy” I was intrigued by the idea so I did a little bit of research on the subject. Blue Ocean Strategy is a corporate strategy that aims to tap unclaimed markets making competition irrelevant. The strategy is embodied in the book entitled “Blue Ocean Strategy” by Professors W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne and Published by Harvard Business School Press. The authors claim that the Blue Ocean Strategy is a result of several years of study of strategic moves by over 30 industries in a span of 100 years. In the book, “Blue Ocean” refers … [Read more...]
