Advance Happy Father’s day to all including my own father, my father-in-law, my grandfathers and all fathers all over the world. In the Philippines we celebrate father’s day on the 3rd Sunday of June just like in the United States and in most countries. So on Sunday, June 15, 2008 we will be celebrating Father’s day. According to Wikipedia, the first modern Father’s day celebration started in the United States on July 5, 1908, at Fairmont, West Virginia. It was first celebrated as a church service at Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as Central United Methodist Church. Ms. Grace Golden Clayton, is believed to be the first to suggest such service to his pastor in honor of the fathers that died in a deadly mine explosion in nearby Monongah the prior December. Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd is considered as another driving force behind the establishment of the integration of Father's Day. She is the daughter of war veteran William Jackson Smart. Her … [Read more...]
Legal implications of the Gucci gang, Brian Gorrell, DJ Montano controversy
Talks has been circulating in blogs, most especially Philippine blogs about the “Talented Mr. Montano” and the “Gucci gang. In fact I wrote an article on how popular it has become from an SEO perspective. You can check out the posts entitled "Who is DJ Montano and Brian Gorrell and why you should get to know them." The story of this controversy is best capsulated by Wikipedia under the entry “Gucci Gang” and is described as “a series of events that involved an Australian blogger Brian Gorrell who published his accusation against his former boyfriend of swindling him of money totaling US$70,000 Gorrell's blog, which was first published on March 4, 2008, has also accused his ex's well-to-do friends, whom he tagged as "Gucci Gang", of attempting to cover up the deed and striking back at him. The blog has since become a major gossip topic in Philippines' capital city Manila, exposing its high-society youths who can afford to buy buying Polaris Accessories on their alleged freeloading … [Read more...]
JOHN CHOW MANIA !
Evil, internet scum, the world’s most successful blogger, these are just some of the words people call JOHN CHOW, definitely one of the world’s most popular icon in the world of blogging. Loved by most but hated by many, John Chow has achieved what only a handful of bloggers has achieved in a short period of time; make tons of money from his blog by just having fun. Instead of doing my regular SEO (Search Engine Otpimization) on my desktop computers or make money online articles, I’ve decided to feature a youtube video interview with John Chow. For those of you who are new to blogging, this could be a lot of help to you. I started blogging because I was inspired by his success. It is my hope and prayer that you will be inspired too. By the way “JOHN CHOW” is a HITLOD keyword. I doubt if you will beat John Chow himself in the Number 1 top spot in google, but the thought that the keyword is very high trend but very low dense is indeed very interesting. More John Chow … [Read more...]
Understanding what BAYANIHAN means
Bayanihan is a unique Filipino word whose closes English equivalent is “Team work”. But the word speaks of more than that. It is derived from the word bayan which means “nation, town or community.” The word bayanihan means a “spirit of communal unity or effort to achieve a particular goal.” Originally the word bayanihan originated from the traditions observed in Philippine towns where members of the community help a family move to a new place of residence. In the olden days, the whole community literally carry the whole house to its new location. This is achieved by utilizing bamboo poles to lift the house from the ground. Bayanihan is often depicted in a lot of paintings by National Filipino Artists. It speaks of the Filipino unity and portrays that a particular goal can be achieved if we work together as a united people. Now that houses are made of concrete, rarely can we see an actual Bayanihan displayed in action. They say that we might not move houses anymore but the … [Read more...]
Is LASIK laser eye surgery for me ?
I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 9 years old. I believe it was in the late 1990s when eye laser surgery was introduced in our country. Later on the popular LASIK procedure in laser eye surgery was introduced. I wanted to get a laser surgery, not because I don’t believe glasses are cool. In fact wearing glasses today looks cooler than it was when I was still a teenager. Before when you wear glasses, it is said that you don’t fit and you are typically labeled as the dork or the geek next door. (Although I never minded it. I was never conscious of being with the “in” crowd. I always had my identity intact) But now that geeks gave us much of the cool hi-tech and electronic stuff that we enjoy today, being a geek is just so cool. (Not to mention that geeks today are the world’s richest people) Besides most people think that people who wear glasses must be very studious. (They forget the fact that some people wear them because their eyes got destroyed by watching to much … [Read more...]
