I had just been nominated to become a member of the Young Lawyer’s Association of Cebu (YLAC). As a nominee, I had been given an assignment to write an article about last week's YLAC legal aid activity which is to be included in the organization’s publication called the “Consiglier.” I love being nominated for YLAC because even if I don't get to be a member a get a funny tshirts. Here is my contribution to the publication which will come out by the end of June. The great President Ramon Magsaysay once wisely said “He who has less in life should have more in law.” I do not know if this has been achieved in our current judicial system. With high filing fees, slow movement of the judicial processes and a system that seems to work only for those who have more in life, I doubt that this gives justice to the often quoted saying of President Magsaysay.Despite the frustrations that one can encounter in practicing law, a group of young and energetic lawyers decided that president … [Read more...]
Make money with John Chow
I blogged about how John Chow has inspired me to become a blogger in the blog post entitled “John Chow mania.” If you still do not know him and you desire to become a successful blogger someday, read this post and watch the 4 minute youtube video. In that post I gave an introduction about who John Chow is. As always it is best to hear from the man himself, so I posted a youtube video featuring an introductory interview on who he is and what he does. In the video John Chow look great. He must have went through treatment for wrinkles. Here, I am uploading a longer youtube video that describes in detail, how John Chow makes money from his blog. Watch and learn from the master himself! … [Read more...]
English Translation of the song Biyahe Tayo
In the post entitled “Biyahe Tayo ! (Let’s travel),” I promised that I will try to translate the song “Biyahe Tayo” into English. Well I guess I don’t have to do the translation anymore. Somebody already did a translation of the song. I love this song! I bet that anybody that hears this song regardless of what their nationality is will learn to love this song. For those who cannot speak Filipino, finally here is an English translation of the song. I did not do the English translation, I just found it at youtube. Honestly, I think the one who translated it could have done a better job with the translation. (There are some grammatical errors and mistranslation of certain words) Nevertheless, we are thankful that this person took the time to translate it. The song’s catchy tune and beautiful lyrics is certainly sure to make anybody pack up their bags and choose their dream vacation from among our 7,100 islands. If I were a billionaire, I would explore each of our more than … [Read more...]
Yet another weight loss pill
Weight loss is big business these days. People are certainly trying to loose the excess weight either for health reasons or aesthetic reasons. But regardless of the reason, the only sure winners I see in the battle against flab is not those who are trying to loose weight, but rather those in the weight loss business. It is estimated that the weight loss industry is worth around $60 Billion Dollars in the United States alone. Products range from traditional diet pills, diet regimens, exercise machines, weight watchers programs, and even surgery. Now here is another weight loss pill that claims to help in loosing weight. Phentermine is said to be the “most sought after prescription diet pill on the market today.” A company claims that it ranks #35 out of the top 200 diet pills that was reviewed based on Value, Ingredient Quality, Customer Feedback, Safety, Company Reputation, Reorder Rates, Customer Service, Product Sensation, Packaging, Long-Term Benefits, Product, Convenience … [Read more...]
A tribute to the Philippine Declaration of Independence (2008)
Today is a very special day for our country, the Philippines. Today we celebrate our 110th Declaration of Independence (Declared on June 12, 1898) Because of the “Holiday economics” being implemented by President Arroyo, the Independence Holiday (No work, no class) has been moved last Monday, June 9, 2008. However celebrations for Independence Day are still being done today, June 12, 2008. Some protested the transfer of the Independence Holiday, the say that it will cause confusion as to what is the actual date of the Philippine Declaration of Independence. For me personally, I support the President when it comes to imposing Holiday economics. The reason for holiday economics is that it will give more time for workers to have a long vacation since there are those who do not have work on Saturdays and Sundays. If a holiday is moved to a Friday or Monday then workers will have a chance to pack up their luggage and go somewhere else for a vacation (Perhaps visit the place where the … [Read more...]
