Open Office is perhaps the most popular alternative office suite to Microsoft Office. People are switching to Open Office because it is free and it basically does the same functions that Microsoft Office does. Were it not for this fact, people would still stick it out with Microsoft Office. There are several suggestions I would like to make in order to make Open Office be truly competitive against Microsoft Office. I believe these suggestions will make people start to consider Open Office and perhaps even buy it even if they put a price tag on it. (But this is not going to happen since Open Office is open source) The following are what I suggest in order for Open office to truly beat the crap out of Microsoft Office: 1.) Faster Loading time – It has always been a fact that Open Office loads slower than Microsoft Office. People with faster computers may not feel this. But for those who are still using “Jurassic” era machines, you can relate to what I am telling you. In order … [Read more...]
My Asus EeePC experience
About a month ago, I sold my wife's almost two year old NEO laptop for half its price and decided to get the hottest sub-notebook PC craze - the Asus EeePC. After several weeks of using the ASUS EeePC, my wife said it was a great machine, and she wanted to keep it if she can, but she said she wanted a Nintendo Wii as well. I told her, I can't buy her a Wii because I was thinking of getting an Asus EeePC myself. She said that I can have her EeePC for as long as I get her a Wii. I remember about 5 years ago since my last laptop experience (A Toshiba Satellite) that I vowed that I would never again buy a laptop, not until they improve the battery life to at least 12 hours. It made no sense lugging around a heavy machine, and yet only getting about 1 or 2 hours of work on the road. Recently, my thoughts on the matter have been greatly changed with the arrival of the Asus My EeePC. The following best summarizes why I had a sudden change of heart. 1.) Weight, … [Read more...]
Super memory
They say that the human brain is the most powerful and most complex piece of machinery there is to exist. So powerful and complex it is that that computing power of a single human brain is more powerful than all of the world’s computers combined. I remember watching the STAR TREK: Voyager series. When the Starship Voyager was introduced it is said that it the fastest among the fleet because the way it transmits information is through the use of “Bio-neural circuitry.” This is without a doubt a reference as to how fast the brain processes information. Unfortunately scientists tell us that the average human being only utilizes about 10 % of the brain. However recently, scientists are baffled by a man who is said to have utilized his brain function, way above the average 10 %, a man who is said to have “Super memory” a man who remembers all the details of his life. His name is Brad Williams from Wisconsin, U.S.A. Brad Williams recalls almost any news event and anything that he … [Read more...]
How to put ads in between your blog post in Word press
As I do my usual blog hopping, I try to emulate the good things that other bloggers do to improve their blog. I noticed that in some blogs, ads were strategically placed within the post in small square boxes. Logically if the ads were placed within the post itself people are most likely to click on the ad especially if it is relevant and related to the post that they are reading. This helps the blogger learn additional income especially when they are displaying adsense ads. I wanted to achieve this effect but I did not know how. I did not want to “hack” my way into my word press theme since I am no word press expert and I don’t want to get into the hassle of “crashing” my wordpress theme. So I decided that a plugin is the best solution to this problem. I was sure that there is already somebody out there who has developed a solution to this problem. Ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, yep, I found out the right plugin to achieve what I was looking for. Let the … [Read more...]
Why don’t you give love links on Valentine’s day
Yep you guessed it right!!! The title of this post is taken from the song “Why don’t you give love on Christmas day.” But since Christmas is still 11 months away, I’ve decided to refer to the nearest season, the Love month, February, Valentines day. I’m sure you must have read my post “What’s the big deal about “No follow” and why you should disable it ?” If you haven’t read it, I encourage that you do so since I will be discussing here how to remove “No follow” in your Word press blog. But if you know what I am talking about, read on. There are lots of ways to remove “No-follow” in your word press blog. You can even do a hack. But most of us would prefer doing it through a plug-in, much easier, less messier. However there are several plugins available to remove “No-Follow” which of them should you choose ? Before I pick one out of the bunch let me just say that all of them are good. But there are those who stand out from among them and for me personally there is no better … [Read more...]
