Bulaklak is the Filipino word for “flower.” Bulaklak is also the title of a song composed by Lito Camo which is popularized by the singing group “Viva hot babes.” Because of this popularization, the “Bulaklak” song has become so popular. Some people say that the “Bulaklak” song connotes a double meaning, especially the way the Bulaklak song was performed by the Viva hot Babes. However some people disagree otherwise and say that only peoplewith malicious mind think about the double meaning int the song "Bulaklak." I don’t want to go into the debate whether or not the song “Bulaklak” connotes a double meaning. But here is a different kind of rendition of the “Bulaklak” song performed by my favorite Philippine singing group, The Company, Asia’s premiere Vocal ensemble. (Acapella music is one of my favorite song genre) Click on the youtube video below to see a different kind renedition of the song "Bulaklak" … [Read more...]

How to survive difficult times-Part 1
While waiting for our fight to Manila on our trip to the Summer capital ast November 2008, CNN reported that the three major U.S auto makers namely Ford, GM and Chrysler has asked the U.S congress for $ 25 Billion dollars to bail them out. According to CNN, if the U.S auto industry fails, this will translate in roughly 2.9 Million job losses; truly these are the signs of difficult times. The other day, Citigroup announced another set of job cuts bringing the total job cuts to more than 50,000. More signs of difficult times to come. On a more personal level, I talked with my mom last night and she revealed that some of my relatives are worried about difficult times. They talked about how the global financial crisis has affected their investment portfolios. They are all asking the question on what action should they take. The future seems to look for grim. Difficult times have gripped even the closest of my family members. It seems that there is no end to the deluge of bad … [Read more...]
Attack of the Giant Siopao
Aside from being known as “Abalos country” and the Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City in Metro Manila would soon have another attraction that will forever be linked to it’s name – GIANT SIOPAO. For those of you who do not know what a siopao is, a siopao is a Chinese steamed bread buns filled with pork, chicken, egg, vegetables and a sweet filling. Siopao is best served with ketchup or the maker’s own unique siopao sauce. The maker of this Giant siopao is PVL Food House. They sell this humongous, giant, siopao for P 120.00. Purportedly the largest in the Philippines, this giant siopao is about 4 times bigger than the ordinary Siopao and weighs about a kilo. The average male eater can consume this giant siopao within 15 minutes as timed on Technomarine watches :-) I still have not tasted this giant Siopao, perhaps when I go to Manila someday I will be able to drop by Mandaluyong and try out this insanely huge Siopao. I learned about this giant siopao through Inquirer.net video. … [Read more...]
What the Gospel is truly about
Years ago while attending a Baptist Youth Congress, I heard that during the conference, a young man was taught what the gospel is all about by a Bible student. After saying the “sinner's Prayer” the young man was asked by his friends if he was already “saved.” With a look of surprise the young man replied “Saved ?” “Is that what being saved is” To my mind this young man doesn’t have the faintest idea on what the Gospel is truly all about. Unfortunately this scenario is repeated thousands of times every day even in the most orthodox of evangelical circles. The real message of what the Gospel is truly all about has been watered down to a gospel of “easy-believism.” Today most people when presented with this watered down gospel do not understand the commitment involved when one is explained what the Gospel is all about. Nevertheless, God has continued to raise men throughout the centuries to stand firm, steadfast and committed to communicating the truth about what the Gospel is as … [Read more...]
