I ranted about the inefficiency of the Philippine Justice system in a post I wrote 2 years ago entitled “Inefficiency, the mother of all injustice.” Now, I have something to write again about the sad state of the Philippine Justice system. I received an order in November of last year that one of our cases which was originally set for November 26 was moved to January 28, 2010. Let me state verbatim the reason why the case was postponed (I found myself snickering when I received the order) “. . . In view of the attendance of the undersigned relative to the seminar on Speedy Trial and Disposition of Cases for Selected Regional Trial Court and Municipal Trial Court Judges in the Visayas on November 26, 2009 at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, the hearing for November 26, 2009 is hereby CANCELLED and RESET to January 28, 2010 at 8:30 oclock in the morning. . . ” Ha ? They scheduled the reset for 2 months because they are attending a seminar on “SPEEDY” trial and disposition of cases? Now … [Read more...]
Dancing queen Acapella by Beatbox and the Company
It was in Sharon Cuneta’s birthday special that I saw the “acapella” rendition of the popular song “Dancing queen.” Said song was first heard way back in 1976 by popular Swedish group ABBA. The song remained popular despite its being released decades ago. Anyway I am featuring this here because I love acapella. I prefer hearing a blending of all voices without instruments. For me this is the ultimate showcase of singing talent. The Dancing queen Acapella version was sung by “The Company” (Together with Mega Star Sharon Cuneta ) I’m sure all of you know The company. I have featured them here singing the “Bulaklak” Acapella and the “Boom tarat tarat” jazz version. (in Acapella) You might be surprised that the youtube video below features the song sung with a beat, well the beat there is not made by any percussion instrument but by voices. This is done by the famous Filipino voice percussions group, Beatbox. By the way, Sharon looks fat in her T.V show, she should consider using … [Read more...]
Where to invest in 2010
The year 2008 and 2009 was certainly a year to look back to in our history. It was the “Great Depression” of our generation. Thankfully it was not as worst as we thought. It was and not even close to what they experienced in 1929. Well we can finally look back and say that the worst is over and the economy and the market in general have no other way to go but up. For us value investors who has positioned ourselves right after the crash in 2008, we are somewhat happy that we did take action as early as that time. As Warren Buffett says, “If you wait until you see the robin, spring will already be over,” I’m glad I took some great positions. I wished I could have done more, but I am limited with the amount of money that I can put in. Oh boy, got to wait for another 5 to 10 years for another golden opportunity such as 2008 ! For those of you who have been waiting for spring to come, don’t worry, the robins has not yet come. There are still great bargains out there. The question you … [Read more...]
Just Dance Acapella youtube video
I am no fan of Lady Gaga who is a famous American recording artist. However I am a fan of Acapella and I appreciate people who do acapella. My wife showed me this cool youtube video featuring three talented Indonesia kids doing Lady Gaga’s Just Dance in Acapella. Very talented kids indeed and they are not even doing it seriously, one was just texting while singing. They seem to enjoy what they are doing. The video seems to be taken in a kitchen as it seems there are Moen kitchen faucets. Probably one day these kids will be discovered just like what happened to our very own Charice Pempengco, Arnel Pineda, the hilarious Moymoy Palaboy and Rin on the Rox. With proper guidance I have no doubt that these kids will make it to the top. Keep practicing and keep on uploading more youtube videos just like the Just Dance in Acapella. I’m sure talent scouts are searching for fresh new talents in youtube. Here is the Just Dance Acapella youtube video … [Read more...]
How the Family Watch Dog will be useful for Filipinos
I’ve stumbled across a great resource in the internet known as the Family Watch Dog. The Family Watch dog is a website that allows you to see for free, if a person is an RSO (If you want to know what an RSO means check out the website, I couldn't place it here because google will block my ads if a say the "S" word, saying the "S" word is bad says the google bot hehehehe) :-) This means that said person has been convicted of "S" offenses. I wish this “registry” is present in all countries throughout the world especially in the Philippine. Unfortunately those in the database are only RSOs in the United States. The Family Watch Dog website provides lots of details. You can search for RSOs by location or by name. There is also a feature that will help alert you if an RSO has moved within your location (In the United States only) A RSO's name, picture, aliases, cases he is convicted of, address, (RSO in the U.S are required to report if they transfer addresses) description (including … [Read more...]
