Last March 2014 I enrolled myself in the Certificate in Community Organising & Development held at the the University of Southern Philippines Foundation. This is a 40+ hours program brought to you by the only three schools offering the Bachelor's degree in Social Work in Cebu, the University of Southern Philippines, St. Theresa’s college and Southwestern University. Faculty members from the three universities will be taught us the principles and practices of Social work for the duration of the program. This is a 3 credit unit certificate which can be credited if you wish to proceed with the Master’s in Social Work degree offered by the University of Southern Philippines, the only institution in Cebu offering a master’s degree in Social work. Normally the course schedule is every Saturdays and Sundays but for our batch, which is batch 5, we had lectures for the whole day, Saturday and Sunday and then we had 4 hours of lectures on weekdays from Monday to Friday. My Philippine Postal Services Corporation delayed package delivery experience
Last year I ordered several books from Amazon. Some of the books were second hand college text books and the sellers of these text books do not do international shipping. So I asked my friend who lives in the United States if I could have it shipped to her address and then she will just ship it to my Philippine address. I asked her to ship it via USPS. (United States Parcel Services) I would have preferred the she ship it via private courier considering that PHILPOST (Philippine Postal Service) will be the one to receive it if it is shipped by USPS and it is known to everyone in the Philippines that PHILPOST is so slow when it comes to delivering mails and packages. But since I ordered more than 15 books and some of these books are quite heavy, I opted to have it shipped via USPS as it was much more cheaper. Besides, I was not in a hurry to receive it. On August 17, 2013 my friend sent the package. I was accustomed to the slowness of Philpost services so I figured out that I will … [Read more...]

Vitamin String Quartet: Classical Music with a rock’n and roll and pop attitude !
Attending my son’s recital, I heard Bruno Mar’s “Just the way you are” being played by the music school’s string ensemble. I was impressed with the performance that I told myself, if only classical musicians would play more contemporary songs, I’m sure a lot of young people will be interested in classical instruments. So I began to search online for contemporary songs played by classical instruments and stumbled upon The Vitamin String Quartet. Luckily no need to claim for workmans comp insurance as there were no injuries hehehehe. :-) The Vitamin String Quartet or known as VSQ is a group of Los Angeles based musicians who are known for its series of tribute albums to rock and pop music. The group’s musical philosophy is to apply rock n' roll and pop attitude to classical technique. As of to date they have recorded about 261 albums already. Here are some of their most popular recordings with them playing some of the most popular songs to date. I’ve chosen three of my favorite and … [Read more...]
Star Trek Online now available for free!
I’ve been a Star Trek Fan all my life. Ever since I saw the first Star Trek movie, I got hooked! I was introduced to Star Trek during my college days by my trekky buddy, Wimle Go. Since that time I’ve watched all Star Trek Movies. Watched almost all T.V shows except for Star Trek Deep space Nine which until now, I still don’t have an idea where to get a copy of said T. V series. I even choose not to buy Dunlop but instead have my own little Star Trek action figure collection. My friend Wimle Go again introduced me to another component of the Star Trek universe, Star Trek games online!. I’ve only played one Star Trek Game before and that is bridge commander. I played it a couple of times, but didn’t have time to master it. Star Trek Online is the latest Star Trek Game that Trekkers had been crazy about. It is massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Cryptic Studios based on the popular Star Trek series created by Gene Roddenberry. It is the first … [Read more...]
