My son Zed Avalon Diaz had his first violin concert last May 16, 2009 at the Sacred Heart School Jesuit Canduman campus. Lol heheheh it’s not really a violin concert but a violin recital :-). I just used the words violin concert for keyword ambush heheheehhe…:-) To prepare for the “violin concert”, my son has been taking violin lessons for almost 1 year now at the Pilar B. Sala Institution for Music and the Arts. By the way special thanks to my son’s teacher Dr. Wayneth Ibales for helping him prepare for the “violin concert.” Pilar B. Sala Institution for Music and the Arts is operated by the Salvador Pilar Sala Foundation Incorporated (SPSFI). The school was established in 1945 and widely known as Battig Piano School. Until today most Cebuano know the school by that name instead of its new name. In fact the average Cebuano refers to the place as “Battig.”In 1993, the school was renamed to its new name. Lessons in various instruments such as strings, wind and percussion … [Read more...]
A Change in my life Acapella, Lyrics and youtube video
I first heard the song “A Change in my life” in the movie “Leap of Faith” starring Steve Martin who played the role of “Jonas Nightingale,” a fraudulent “Christian” faith healer whose story is somehow taken from the a page of every modern day televangelist whose money making ministries bears a striking similarity to the fictional Jonas Nightingale. Sadly, I didn't get to watch the movie in HDTV. Well as much as I am tempted to write a stinging commentary regarding these modern day prophet of profits, I will reserve that for another post, for now I will just talk about the song “A Change in my life” By the way if you haven’t watched “Leap of Faith" click here to get it at my Guerilla blogger eStore. In the movie, the song “A change in my life” was sung by “The Angels of mercy” which in my opinion did a great job in singing the song as well as other songs. I don’t know if there is a real singing group “Angels of mercy,” but they did a fantastic job as Jonas Nightingale’s … [Read more...]
Boom Tarat Tarat jazz version
Boom Tarat Tarat is composed by Lito Camo a famous Filipino song writer who wrote several popular novelty songs such as "Bakit Papa? Tawag mo ako?", "Spaghetti Song", "Bulaklak", "Wowowee", "Otso-Otso." Most of his songs were popularized by the regular Filipino noon time shows such as Eat Bulaga and Wowowee. In particular Boom Tarat Tarat was popularized by Willie Revillame host of the ABS-CBN noon time show Wowowee. I am really not much of Lito Camo novelty songs fan. The only novelty songs I am fan of are those composed and sung by Visayan Novely song artists such as Yoyo Villame and Max Surban. (In fact I can sing some of them from memory, but don’t let me sing in public heheheheh) I really like those songs because they are so funny, especially those composed by Yoyo Villame. Anyway, there is a jazz version of Boom Tarat Tarat sung by none other than Asia's premiere vocal group, The Company. Click on the youtube video below to see a different version of Boom Tarat Tarat. … [Read more...]

I’ve been continuing my search for great acapella music in the internet since it is my favorite type of music genre. I’ve stumbled upon the “Emotions song”, originally written and performed by the Bee Gees in 1977. The emotions song made a comeback in 2001 through the R & B group Destiny child. I’m not really a fan of these groups, but I sure do like the voice mixing in their acapella. Want to hear the best “Emotions song” in acapella ? Click on the youtube video below.
