Time sure flies fast! It just seems like yesterday when I entered into the world of blogging last late November 2007. As the first month of the year has ended, I wanted to inform you all of this blog’s performance. As I said before, my goal is to have 10,000 visitors a month. It seems that I am going in that direction by God’s grace. Here are my “most read post” for January 2008 and why I think they made it to the top ten. 1.) A stronger Philippine Peso . . . Fearless forecast - 68 Everybody, even the ordinary person is very much concern where the Philippine Peso is headed in the months to come. This post gives a compelling argument that the Philippine peso is most likely going to get stronger in the time to come. I mostly get visitors from this post through search engine searches. 2.) How to get rid of the “TTMS NAA NA DIRI” Virus - 37 Readers of this post most probably got infected by this Philippine made virus. This post gives detailed instructions on how to remove the … [Read more...]
An introduction to Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is one way of earning from the internet. It is defined by Wikipedia as “a web-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts.” To put it simply let’s say A has a product that he wishes to sell on the internet. So he invites people like B, C and D to sell his products. B, C and D then post details of A’s product in their respective websites or blogs. Usually A provides them with free advertisement materials such as banners, HTML codes, preformatted email letters, Java script codes etc. B,C and D are called “Affiliates of A. If A makes a sale or if a visitor is referred to A’s site by B, C or D’s blog or website then B, C or D is given a certain form of compensation by A. There are different kinds of compensation schemes in affiliate marketing. The most popular one being Cost Per Sale (CPS), the others are Cost Per Action (CPA), Cost Per Click (CPC) and … [Read more...]
What’s the big deal about “No follow” and why you should disable it ?
From time to time, I do some blog hopping and if I find some good blogs, I try to emulate what they are doing. I have noticed the “U Comment I follow” sign but I never knew what that meant until lately I discovered its importance, so I placed one on this blog. What the “U Comment I follow” sign basically means is that if you place a comment in this blog, hopefully the search engines will follow the author links, or the links on the comments that you placed. This will will result in the commenter hopefully getting a back link as a result of his comments. I used the word “hopefully” since some search engines (like google) say they do not follow the links in the comments. However a test done has revealed otherwise. Others (like yahoo, msn etc.) say they treat the links as if it is any other link. But no matter what, disabling the “No follow” will both be of mutual benefit to the blogger and the visitors of the site. So what is this “No follow” nonsense? Well it all started out … [Read more...]
Learn lessons from selaplana.com
Years ago I was totally convinced that the internet is a gold mine waiting to be exploited. I did some research until I focused on a certain online money making venture, Blogging. When I began blogging, late November 2007, I was looking for online models both here and abroad. I was looking for bloggers whose footsteps I could follow. I was looking for bloggers who had been successful in what they are doing. I wanted to know how they did it. I came across Sustines E. Laplana’s site through a Sun Star article authored by Janet Toral. I was actually amazed by his blogging success story. Laplana blogs directly from Maasin, Southern Leyete. The Sun Star article said that Laplana’s site proves that “you don’t have to be in Manila or in a big city to succeed at blogging.” I totally agree. There are those from who think that you have to be “Manila Boys” or City boys to succeed at something. This kind of mentality is pervasive even among us from the provinces. But I am glad somebody like … [Read more...]
Top Ten posts for 2007 and blog year end review.
It took me several days to decide what I should blog about today, considering that this is the last day of the year. Since I blog in advance, I have time to think about what I am going to write about. I usually try to reconcile my blog schedule with the happenings of a certain day, but I just couldn’t up with something about technology and the last day of the year. I tried a year end review on technology but I only finished half of the article, I didn’t feel like continuing it. After reading several posts from my favorite bloggers, some of them gave me an idea. Some of the featured their top ten posts for the year. Although this blog is barely a month old, I have also decided to feature my top ten posts for 2007. This is based on the number of views. I believe this is the way to close this year. I am also including a comment as to why I believe this has been very popular with the readers. If you haven’t read these posts, you should. You might discover other reasons why they are … [Read more...]
