Greatest legacy of Corazon Aquino Part 2
In my previous post entitled “The greatest legacy of Cory Aquino Part 1” I discussed several legacies left by the presidency of Corazon Aquino. I said that I believe her greatest legacy was integrity. Now we continue on why I believe this is so. CORAZON AQUINO’S GREATEST LEGACY – HER INTEGRITY As I said the Aquino administration may not be perfect. In fact there were accusations before that some relatives of Corazon Aquino from the Cojuangco side that were taking advantage of Corazon Aquino’s presidency. Yet none can dare lift a finger and accuse Corazon Aquino personally of any corruption whatsoever. To this day, her integrity remains intact. In fact international observer and news media say that Corazon Aquino is the only president after Marcos whose integrity remains untarnished and intact. Her presidency was marked by simplicity, honesty and integrity. Stories about her simplicity and honesty are told by former staff. It is said that during a visit in a rural area, one was … [Read more...]
The history, music and lyrics of the song “I have fallen in love with the same woman three times.”
In October 11, 1973, while imprisoned by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. otherwise commonly known as “Ninoy Aquino” wrote a poem for his wife, Cory Aquino entitled “I have fallen in love with the same woman three times.” Popular Filipino businessman –musician Jose Mari Chan gave music to the poem sometime in 1989 and included it in the album “Constant change.” While people appreciated the history and significance of the song, it did not become very popular when it was first released. People have come to greatly appreciate the song as this makes them remember two of the Philippines most respected icons of democracy. Here is the song and lyics of “I have fallen in love with the same woman three … [Read more...]

That woman is no other than our beloved former President, Maria Corazon Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino or fondly called by the people as “Cory Aquino.” Cory Aquino is not only known as an icon of democracy for the Philippines, but an icon of democracy for Asia and the rest of the world. Having led the greatest bloodless revolution known as “EDSA PEOPLE POWER” in modern times, she certainly earned her place in the annals of our history book by being the “mother of our democracy.” CORY AQUINO’S LEGACIES Cory Aquino is not only famous for toppling almost 2 decades of Marcos dictatorship and restoring the democratic institutions of the Philippines. Mid-year economic briefing on the Philippine economy: In Recess or in Recession?
I just learned from Ronnie Mangubat , one of my batch mates from the Street Strategists Financial literacy seminar Batch 16 that the University of Asia & the Pacific in cooperation with the UA&P Alumni Association will be conducting a “Mid-year economic briefing on the Philippine economy: In Recess or in Recession” This briefing will be somewhat helpful to those who are in business and those who are functioning as business plan consultant since this will give us a glimpse of what we can expect for the next year or so. Although economic briefings are just forecast and sometimes if not most of the times, some economic forecast will be far from what is actual happening, knowing what some economist thinks might be of actual help. If you are also new to exploring the world of business, finance, economics and even the stock market, you might also be interested in listening to this as the more you will be exposed to this kind of stuff, the more you will learn. The event will be … [Read more...]
