I’ve got both good news and bad news about the Chevy Volt. Let’s start with the good news first. THE GOOD NEWS General Motor’s has come with a car that lets you save a lot on gasoline ! The car is so efficient that you get 230 miles per gallon out of it on ordinary city driving. Introducing the new Chevy Volt 230 miles per gallon ? You got to be kidding me ! That’s about 368 Kilometers per 3.4 liters or roughly 108 kilometers for every liter of gasoline! But that’s what the new Chevy Volt, General Motor’s (GM) new electric car promises to deliver to customers. In Kilowatt hour, the Chevy volt will use 25 kilowatt hours per every 100 miles driven. Powered by a lithium-ion battery, you can drive the Chevy volt up to around 40 miles after which you can plug it in an ordinary outlet to recharge. For longer driving the Chevy Volt uses a small gas-powered engine. The Chevy Volt is perhaps GM’s renewed effort to catch up with the market. The Chevy Volt could indeed deliver a … [Read more...]
15 things that I learned from the 2009 mid-year economic briefing on the Philippine economy
Last July 30, 2009, I announced in my blog that the University of Asia and the Pacific will be holding a mid-year a economic briefing in Cebu on July 31, 2009. I attended the said half day event and was quite happy that I attended said briefing. I learned a lot of things and corrected certain misconceptions that I had. I was also able to gain more knowledge about the Philippine economy. The first lecturer was Dr. Emilio Antonio who was the former dean of the University of Asia and the Pacific school of Economics. He was followed by Dr. Victor Abola a Professor at said University and head of the Strategic Business Economics Program. I’m sure I learned a lot of things and there are lots of things that can be said. However I will just be discussing the top ten very interesting things that I learned in the mid-year economic briefing on the Philippine economy. 1.) Contrary to what the critics say, it is not true that we have not grown as a nation for the past 20 years. The cold … [Read more...]
Want to win a $1000 ? Follow Ellen DeGeneres twitter
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is giving away $1,000 randomly to somebody who is following the Ellen DeGeneres twitter account. Believe or not the Ellen DeGeneres twitter account has over 2 million followers. How does she got this number of followers? Well first of all she is a celebrity and her show is popular. Secondly, she gives away a lot of freebies. I wonder if she gives outdoor furniture as freebies. Ellen DeGeneres is an Emmy Award winning American comedienne, actress and host of the popular Ellen DeGeneres Show. The show’s format has no central and each episode revolves around several topics. I am really not a fan of Ellen DeGeneres. I don’t like her show at all. It’s too chaotic; it seems that the show has no direction or focus. But I am really surprised that people love it. Well, people love chaos. Hehehehe. If this is a guerilla blog then the Ellen DeGeneres show is a guerilla show hehehehe.:-) I am not alone in this assessment Film director Andrew Stanton chose … [Read more...]
News update about the Mercy Me bus crash
Popular Christian band Mercy Me, had to cancel their show in St. Louis after their tour bus crash and collided with a car in Indiana. The accident killed two passengers in the car and the pregnant driver’s unborn baby. Reports reveal that the car made an abrupt left turn in front of the tour bus. Nobody in the band was injured except for some minor bumps and bruises. Due to the Bus crash, Mercy Me has moved their show at Six Flags, St. Louis to September 5, 2009. It's good that Mercy Me rode a bus, otherwise they would need a good San Jose motorcycle accident attorney. I've read some comments asking where was God in all this ? Why didn't God intervene and stop the accident. If there is really a God why did the Mercy Me bus crash happen ? Well the Bible has this to say about this issues. First of all at some point in time, all of us will surely die. Secondly, whatever happens to us, God always has a plan and purpose. In fact for those who truly love God, no matter what happens … [Read more...]
The Philippines, still home of the world’s smallest deer?
News recently came out that the world’s smallest deer, Rupert was born. Actually there seem to be a mistake in the headlines. Rupert is not the world’s smallest deer, Rupert is the world’s smallest deer ever to be born. Rupert’s mother was hit be a car. Veterinarians had to do a cesarean section on his mother in order to deliver the baby deer. Rupert only weighed, 500 grams and was only 6 inches tall making him hold the record of the world’s smallest deer ever to be born. For a number of years, the Philippines used to be known as the home of the world’s smallest deer which is the Philippine Mouse-deer. The Philippine Mouse deer can only be found in Balabac and nearby smaller islands south-west of Palawan in the Philippines. Now they say that they have discovered the smallest deer somewhere in the Himalayas. This new record holder for the world’s smallest deer weighs about 11 kilograms (24 pounds) and stands 60 to 80 centimeters (24 to 31 inches) tall. Well, if this is true … [Read more...]
