Unlike the regular Olympics the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 didn’t create much buzz in our country and I presume neither did it become a buzz in other countries where there is no snow. Add to this is the fact that the Philippines and other countries where there is no snow did not send a delegation or did only send a limited delegation to the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010. Nevertheless it is still exciting to monitor the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 considering that like the regular Olympics, it is one of the few occasions wherein countries, people and different races from all over the world meet together in the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship. It must be pretty exciting for the delegation from each country to be competing with the best of the world. Equally excited is the citizens of the countries who have sent huge delegations. I can't believe the Olympians in the Olympics now a days. Some of them are so big. They must have taken some human growth hormones. Anyway, … [Read more...]
The new Maceren MP-4 or Mclaren MP-4?
Last December 2009, my uncle told us that a search in the internet revealed that a company is coming up with a concept car and has decided to name the car the “Maceren MP-4” Naturally we were intrigued that a car would bear the family’s surname. Of course it was kind of cool to know that a car bears your surname (My middle name in my case), not to mention that it is a cool concept sports car! He showed us a website featuring a really cool looking car that is worthy to be compared to other hot cars like a Ferrari parts, Mercedez or Lamborghini. When we saw the website we read that the car was called the “Maceren Mp-4” because the blog writer who I believe spoke Spanish wrote it as “El nuevo Maceren MP4- 12C” (Translated as “The New Maceren MP-4”) Well, I never really gave it much thought until today. I never had a thing for cars. I am contented with my Suzuki Alto. Anyway, I searched the internet for the “Maceren MP-4” but the search engines never revealed what I was looking … [Read more...]

Who on earth is Carmina Topacio
I first heard about Carmina Topacio when listening to one of my favorite Radio program in AM radio, sidewalk 1512. Sidewalk 1512’s main topic is about business and economics but because the program’s host is a music lover, a smattering of music topics and music itself is played form time to time. The program’s host is no other than Thads Bentulan, popularly known as the Street Strategist, author, and original thinker of the controversial hyper-wage theory as well as other society shaking original ideas. Thads otherwise known as “Kuya JT” kept on saying in his program to look up who Carmina Topacio is. So I did. According to internet sources, Carmina Topacio is an 18 year old, Filipina, rising youtube sensation. As of the time of this writing, her youtube channel has about 8,000 subscribers. She sings while playing her guitar. She also does original music compositions. What makes her further a hit is her angelic looks. (If you want to look like here perhaps you may want considering … [Read more...]
The sad state of the Philippine Justice system
I ranted about the inefficiency of the Philippine Justice system in a post I wrote 2 years ago entitled “Inefficiency, the mother of all injustice.” Now, I have something to write again about the sad state of the Philippine Justice system. I received an order in November of last year that one of our cases which was originally set for November 26 was moved to January 28, 2010. Let me state verbatim the reason why the case was postponed (I found myself snickering when I received the order) “. . . In view of the attendance of the undersigned relative to the seminar on Speedy Trial and Disposition of Cases for Selected Regional Trial Court and Municipal Trial Court Judges in the Visayas on November 26, 2009 at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, the hearing for November 26, 2009 is hereby CANCELLED and RESET to January 28, 2010 at 8:30 oclock in the morning. . . ” Ha ? They scheduled the reset for 2 months because they are attending a seminar on “SPEEDY” trial and disposition of cases? Now … [Read more...]
