I had an interesting conversation with a veteran lawyer one day. (Read – Veteran not senior citizen hehehehe, lest he become angry with me) :-) Our conversation first started about the Supreme Court deciding that San Miguel shares were really Danding Cojuangco owned and that it was not ill gotten. Because the decision was so preposterous and even referred to as the “joke of the century” by one of the justices that wrote a dissenting opinion on it, I asked him his personal opinion as to whether there was some sort of “maneuvering” (And by that you know what I mean) He answered me frankly and said, knowing the players involved; the possibility is not that remote. We went on to discuss the corruption in the judicial system. According to his own opinion about 60 to 70 % of those involved in the system are corrupt and there are only a few or a handful that really stand for integrity, honesty and justice. Everybody in the system knows this and this is an open secret among lawyers. He then … [Read more...]
Need travel ideas? The Back pack travelers will inspire you
My first 2 years as a blogger was spent on being a guerilla blogger, developing this blog and venturing on other blogs. It was only in my third year that I started to venture into niche blogging. It will be my 4th year as a blogger this November of 2011. My first niche blog was www.stockmarket-investing.com. Stock Market investing is one of my main passions. stockmarket-investing.com, although targeting a very lucrative market, is somewhat technical that’s why I seldom write a post for it. But I’ll do my best not to be lazy and will update it more often as it has somewhat of a loyal following. I wanted my second niche blog to be a travel blog. So after I put up my stock market investing blog in 2010, I started a travel blog. Traveling is one of my passions and I have traveled so much that I am sure I will have no problem developing the blog. Since I am busy with wearing my other hats, I wanted to pool other travel bloggers to help me put content in the blog. Unfortunately it … [Read more...]
Does the Fast 5 Diet really work?
I’ve wanted to loose weight for several years now for health reasons. I’ve tried a lot of stuff already and the only diet system that worked was when I took a Chinese herbal medicine product. I think I moved about 2 or 3 notches in my belt. The product is great because you don’t feel hungry at all, and it suppresses your appetite. The problem is, I could not sleep. Fearing that I will go insane, I stopped drinking the stuff. I tried eating regularly but exercising a lot, it still didn’t work. Incorporating a lot of fruits and vegetables into my diet didn’t work either because I was still gorging on too much carbohydrate. I even tried eating slowly by chewing my food 20 times before swallowing it, but it did not work because I grew tired of counting. I tried Atikins for a while, no carbohydrate just protein. It worked for a while, but I went back to my old eating habits. Then recently I tried a cross between South beach and Atkins, that is no carbohydrates but more on vegetables and … [Read more...]
In defense of Christopher Lao
I just discovered that a guy named Christopher Lao has become an online sensation. The event that made him famous online happened sometime in July or August 2011. I'm an active netizen but it seems that his popularity has skipped my almost 10 hours a day online. If you haven't heard about him, what happened is best summarized in this youtube video: Because of this Christopher Lao has been the subject of so much ridicule and has been lambasted online for his response to the interview. I can't blame the guy, if it was me I'd be so pissed and I'd be running around amok ! Imagine if it were to happen to your car ! I'm sure you would rave and rant. I don't know Christoper Lao personally but I sympathize with the guy. Look at all the negative and hurtful comments he is getting. Type his name in Google and you get a deluge of nasty comments made against him. Some people even went to the extent of making youtube videos against him such as this: Well admittedly the above … [Read more...]
Get ready for the 2011 bar exams attend this free pre-day lectures !
The 2011 bar exams is a very historic exam as this will be first time, after several decades of bar exams in the country, wherein major changes has been implemented. The game plan or battle strategy that has been followed by bar examinees for decades need to revised if not changed because of the “major major” changes in the bar exams. As you all probably know already, about 60 % of the exam will be multiple choice questions while 40 % will be trail memorandum writing. Those taking the bar exams are very unfamiliar with this format as these were just announced late last year. And during that time those taking the bar this year was still busy preparing for the graduation so there was little time or no time at all to prepare for these changes. Hence law schools and review centers are now scampering to prepare their students on how to effectively slay this yet to be seen beast. Before these changes, going to regular bar review and last minute review seems to be only an option, but now I … [Read more...]
